A Tale of Two Cities
Have you ever really looked at our city? Although Soddy Daisy is beautiful, have you ever considered how our leaders could make it more appealing to the eye? Minimal spending on our main intersections around town would improve the beauty of our city. Compare the two pictures of the intersection located at Sequoyah Road and Dayton Pike to the pictures of the intersection located at Hixson Pike and McConnell School Lane in Lakesite. As you can see, Lakesite has enhanced main intersections located on Hixson Pike, We have the means and our public works department has the talent and skill to complete such projects. We can begin the process by incorporating a strategic plan partnering with non-profit organizations, seeking capital through grant opportunities, and utilizing. Our first step would create a beautification committee that works with our planning commission. Making our city more inviting would recruit new businesses in addition to benfiting our existing business owners by increasing their foot traffic. Lakesite is a local example illustrating how this is possible even with a small budget. The city manager of Lakesite was my advisor and professor when I was working on my master’s degree in Public Administration. He taught us how to accomplish goals like these by seeking input from our community. If you give me the opportunity to represent you as commissioner of Soddy Daisy, I promise you I will work diligently to develop a strategic plan that will beautify our city sooner than later.
